Task
You and your classmates will research a state in the Northeast. Your job will be to make a brochure and persuade the aliens to visit the state your group has chosen to research. Hopefully, with your help they will be able to decide where to spend their time while visiting the Northeast.
Process
Step 1:
You will be divided into groups of 3 students. Each member in your group will choose two of the following sections for your brochure. Each job will require a drawing and a discription.
1. Facts-This person finds interesting information about a state.
Example: a. Capital
b. Nickname
c. State Bird
d. State Flower
e. Picture of the state flag
2.Famous People - Find two famous people that came from your state.
3.Tourist Attractions - Find two activites that a tourist in your state would like to do.
4.Outdoor Activities-Find two recreational activities that you could do in your state.
5.Historian
a. When your state became a state?
b. How did your state gets its name?
6.Mapmaker a. What is the population of the state?
b. What is the area of the state?
Step 2: The Northeast is divided into eleven states:Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. Your group will need to choose which state to research.
Step 3: Research your state and record your findings.
Step 4: With all the information you gathered through your research, your group will construct a brochure by writing a paragraph and drawing a picture that goes with your section.
Step 5: Present your brochure to students to help the aliens decide which state of the Northeast region they want to visit during their two week stay.
